The presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, says among other things, if elected into power he will enrich his friends. The PDP candidate stated this on Wednesday while addressing the business community in Lagos at an event themed “Getting Nigeria’s Economy Working : A Pragmatic Approach. “I am not going to enrich members of my family but my friends. “Are my friends not entitled to be enriched? The  People’s Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate  Atiku Abubakar has said he doesn’t believe the 2019 elections will be free and fair. Speaking to the BBC, Atiku said he hasn’t seen any evidence that the present administration is willing to organize a credible election. A young man has been hailed after he was pictured giving an old man his belt. According to a report shared on Facebook by an eyewitness, the old man asked the young man to help him buckle his belt. In the process, the young man noticed that the old man's belt was worn, so he took his off and hooked it to the old man's trousers. The kind act took place in Ghana and has earned the boy the praise of social media users after it was shared online.

Arsenal goalkeeper Petr Cech announced on Tuesday that he will retire at the end of the season. The 36-year-old, who won four Premier League titles with Chelsea, revealed his decision on Twitter. A truck carrying APC branded bags of rice in Ekiti state, crushed over 20 persons to death last night Saturday, January 12th. According to reports, the truck was transporting the branded rice from Abuja, and was en route the Ifaki-Iworoko road in Ado Ekiti, when the accident occurred. The trailer caused multiple accidents on Iworoko road, as it also affected an 18-seater Toyota bus and a Toyota Corrolla car, thereby causing heavy traffic. Eyewitnesses say the driver of the truck lost control of the wheels and rammed into the market which was close to the road in Iworoko. Many traders, who were still selling at night, were affected. Confirming the incident, the spokesperson of the state police command, Caleb Ikechukwu, said "The accident actually happened at Iworoko road in Ado Ekiti just this evening and I heard that there were causalities, but I cannot give figures.
