The minister of information and culture, Lai Mohammed, who gave the warning on Monday, February 19, at the second national conference of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) in Kano, noted that offenders of dangerous comments would henceforth be prosecuted by the federal government. BREAKING!! Boko Haram Attacks Yobe Community

Suspected members of the Boko Haram insurgents have attacked Dapchi community in Bursari Local Government Area of Yobe State, North-east Nigeria. The Commissioner of Police in the state, Mr Sumonu Abdullmaliki, confirmed the attack to journalists on Monday. According to him, the incident started in the evening while security forces are already on the group repelling the attack. Mr Abdullmaliki, who said there are no details on the attack yet, maintained that the security agents are on top of the situation. Dapchi is 100KMs north of Damaturu, the state capital, and it remains one major town that has not recorded an attack by the terrorists since the start of the insurgency in the troubled region.

Many persons were injured on Monday when the supporters of the Imo State Deputy Governor, Eze Madumere, and those of the son-in-law to Governor Rochas Okorocha, Uche Nwosu, fought at a political meeting. The incident occurred at the council hall of the Mbaitoli Local Government Area, at Nworubi, Madumere’s home town. Supporters of Nwosu had reportedly gone to the venue to endorse him to run for the 2019 governorship election. However, followers of “I believe Movement,” which is pro-Nwosu; and supporters of the deputy governor attacked one another immediately the mission of the visitors were announced. According to an indigene of the LGA who was at the meeting, the visitors had sent them a text message, inviting members of the public to a gathering without stating the agenda. “Members of ‘I believe Movement’ took us for granted. They came to our Local Government Area to endorse the governor’s son-in-law, as against our son who is the deputy governor of the state”, the witness
