Suspected members of the Boko Haram insurgents have attacked Dapchi community in Bursari Local Government Area of Yobe State, North-east Nigeria. The Commissioner of Police in the state, Mr Sumonu Abdullmaliki, confirmed the attack to journalists on Monday. According to him, the incident started in the evening while security forces are already on the group repelling the attack. Mr Abdullmaliki, who said there are no details on the attack yet, maintained that the security agents are on top of the situation. Dapchi is 100KMs north of Damaturu, the state capital, and it remains one major town that has not recorded an attack by the terrorists since the start of the insurgency in the troubled region.

Many persons were injured on Monday when the supporters of the Imo State Deputy Governor, Eze Madumere, and those of the son-in-law to Governor Rochas Okorocha, Uche Nwosu, fought at a political meeting. The incident occurred at the council hall of the Mbaitoli Local Government Area, at Nworubi, Madumere’s home town. Supporters of Nwosu had reportedly gone to the venue to endorse him to run for the 2019 governorship election. However, followers of “I believe Movement,” which is pro-Nwosu; and supporters of the deputy governor attacked one another immediately the mission of the visitors were announced. A 10-year-old girl, Vera, and her younger sister, Favour, five, are grappling with injuries inflicted on them by their stepmother. The woman, Chidima Nnachi, reportedly beat up Vera, rubbed pepper on her eyes and burned her back with a hot knife. She also reportedly injured Favour on the forehead and inserted pepper in her eyes for allegedly soiling her body. The family, including Nnachi’s husband, resided on Aso Rock Street, Brucknor Estate, Ejigbo, Lagos State. Benue massacre: Buhari sending Fulani soldiers to protect herdsmen, kill state people – IPOB Blast Presidency The Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, has alleged that the President Muhammadu Buhari-led Federal Government deployed Fulani soldiers to Benue State to protect herdsmen and not people of the state. The Oyo State Police Command on February 8th, paraded four suspects, who were nabbed with human parts in the Ayegun area of Ibadan. The suspects includes an Islamic cleric, (Alfa) Sulaiman Hamed, 35, Tope Akinyele, 45, who claimed to be the pastor of a church in Ojagbo, in the Oranyan area of Ibadan and and two other accomplices, Olapade Saheed, 32, and Olatunji Abiodun, 26. While briefing newsmen at the Command headquarters, the state Commissioner of Police, Abiodun Odude, stated that the Alfa, participated in the Fidau prayers for a dead man but later paid Saheed and Abiodun N2,500, to exhume the corpse because he needed the body parts for making money charm for his clients.
