President Muhammadu Buhari has returned to Abuja from London, where he attended the 2018 Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting, CHOGM. The President took off from London a little after midday on Saturday and arrived Nigeria few minutes past 7pm.  The President returned to Abuja on Saturday evening – he’d travelled to London on April 9th shortly after declaring his intention to seek re-election in 2019. During his time in the UK, the president made a quite controversial statement concerning the Nigerian youths which had most of them on social media enraged. The president had said some of the country’s youths are lazy – this notion, obviously didn’t sit well with many youths on social media, who took to the internet to air their displeasure. Manchester United manager, Jose Mourinho has added Paul Pogba to a list of players he may offload this summer. Pogba’s relationship with his Portuguese manager has hit a new low after the former Chelsea boss substituted the Frenchman during the defeat to West Brom on Sunday. The defeat handed the Premier League title to Manchester City earlier than expected. It is not the first time Mourinho has lost faith in Pogba this season. He has repeatedly been dropped by Mourinho this season. And Daily Mail UK reports that Mourinho has finally decided to let the Frenchman leave the club.  The minister of information and culture, Lai Mohammed, says offenders of dangerous comments will henceforth be held accountable by the federal government  - He cautions that any attempt to circumvent the rightful position of the media in the society could be inimical to national cohesion - Sanusi laments over usage of hate speech in social media  The federal government has warned that it would prosecute those who indulge in the practice of hate speech in accordance with the 2011 terrorism act. The minister of information and culture, Lai Mohammed, who gave the warning on Monday, February 19, at the second national conference of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) in Kano, noted that offenders of dangerous comments would henceforth be prosecuted by the federal government. Suspected members of the Boko Haram insurgents have attacked Dapchi community in Bursari Local Government Area of Yobe State, North-east Nigeria. The Commissioner of Police in the state, Mr Sumonu Abdullmaliki, confirmed the attack to journalists on Monday. According to him, the incident started in the evening while security forces are already on the group repelling the attack. Mr Abdullmaliki, who said there are no details on the attack yet, maintained that the security agents are on top of the situation. Dapchi is 100KMs north of Damaturu, the state capital, and it remains one major town that has not recorded an attack by the terrorists since the start of the insurgency in the troubled region.

Many persons were injured on Monday when the supporters of the Imo State Deputy Governor, Eze Madumere, and those of the son-in-law to Governor Rochas Okorocha, Uche Nwosu, fought at a political meeting. The incident occurred at the council hall of the Mbaitoli Local Government Area, at Nworubi, Madumere’s home town. Supporters of Nwosu had reportedly gone to the venue to endorse him to run for the 2019 governorship election. However, followers of “I believe Movement,” which is pro-Nwosu; and supporters of the deputy governor attacked one another immediately the mission of the visitors were announced. A 10-year-old girl, Vera, and her younger sister, Favour, five, are grappling with injuries inflicted on them by their stepmother. The woman, Chidima Nnachi, reportedly beat up Vera, rubbed pepper on her eyes and burned her back with a hot knife. She also reportedly injured Favour on the forehead and inserted pepper in her eyes for allegedly soiling her body. The family, including Nnachi’s husband, resided on Aso Rock Street, Brucknor Estate, Ejigbo, Lagos State. While the children were rescued and taken into protective custody by the Office of the Public Defender of the state Ministry of Justice, Nnachi was arrested by the police from the Ejigbo division.
